"Michael J. Hess is the nephew of Lyle C. Hess"
Michael started working with his uncle Lyle at a very young age,
and finished up with the tooling of the Falmouth Cutter in 1978 at
the Nor' Sea factory in Long Beach, California  
In 1977-78 Michael helped with the building of his fathers
 Bristol Channel Cutter "Pandora" hull number 7#

In 1989 Michael designed and built the  "Hess
Ultimate 20" prototype, a high performance
sailboat that was feature in Sailing World
Magazine, many times
In 1995 Michael designed and built the "Mini Bristol
Channel Cutter" feature in Sail Magazine
In 1996 Michael designed two products for Forespar
Marine, a telescoping and articulating bowsprit system
called the "Shotgun", and a spinnaker pole performance
tripping control called the "SlamJam", as seen in there
